Why is there no A, B, C in the diamond color grading system?
In 1953, the Gemological Institute of America introduced what is now the industry standard grading scale for colorless diamonds, grading them on a color scale from D to Z and a clarity scale from Flawless to I3. At the time the new grading system was introduced, several grading classifications were used that employed numbers, letters and descriptive words. This caused confusion when comparing two diamonds that had been graded with different nomenclatures. D was agreed upon as a starting point to differentiate from the previous systems.

Does Lugano Diamonds offer gemological certificates for its diamonds?
Yes, we offer the original diamond report from the Gemological Institute of America for most of our stones.

How long does it take to create a piece?
It depends. Simple designs such as halo rings and pendants for example, take around 3-4 weeks. More complex designs take 6-8 weeks on average.
Can I bring in my old jewelry to have it fixed or redesigned?
Yes. At Lugano Diamonds, we are proud of our design and production teams ability to bring new life to your beloved jewelry.
How long does a repair take?
On average, Lugano created pieces take 2-weeks to repair, and non-Lugano created pieces take 3-weeks.
How does Lugano Diamonds procure their diamonds?
Lugano is committed to ethical sourcing practices in the procurement of our diamonds. The diamonds we acquire comply with the Kimberley Process, a global system that certifies shipments of diamonds as “conflict-free.” In this way, we can confidently say the diamonds we sell have been purchased from legitimate sources not involved in funding conflict.
